Dorris Rider Art Gallery

The Dorris Rider Art Gallery was established on the campus of North Central Missouri College in  October of 2002 with the generous gift of the late Dorris Rider, who was a resident of Trenton and a patron of the arts.  This exhibition space, while still in its early stages, has already proven to be a valuable asset to the college, community and region with shows by local artists as well as international artists.

The gallery is located in the Frey Administrative Center on the NCMC campus with entrance to the building off of Mable Street. The gallery is a two-level space that provides a dramatic showcase for any art media, yet visitors will appreciate the intimate setting for viewing art.  Gallery hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as selected evening and weekend tours.

Steve Maxey, Director of Public Relations, extends an invitation to volunteers who would like to assist in hosting at the Gallery during regular hours and are asked to contact him or College Art Instructor Jim Norris at the College. “This is an opportunity to locate individuals who are genuinely interested in bringing more culture to the area and by serving as a host or hostess for a few hours, this will only strengthen the support of additional art and other special exhibits in our area” said Maxey.  Those interested in submitting exhibit proposals or needing more information should contact Jim Norris at 660-359-3948 ext. 1345 or by email at jnorris@mail.ncmissouri.edu.

Schools or organizations that want to schedule a special tour of the exhibit or others planned in the months ahead may do so by contacting Vicki Weaver at the College. Her phone number is 660-359-3948, extension 1203. Many school children from the local schools as well as area school districts visited the Rider Gallery during the Chinese Exhibit and we hope that they and many more will include regular visits to the Gallery in the months ahead. We have a very exciting schedule of art planned through May, 2004.
