Practicum Requirements/Tuition Assistance


The following criteria must be met to participate in the required practicums for the North Central Missouri College Behavioral Health Support (BHS) Program:

  • Accepted as an NCMC student: Students can apply for NCMC online at www.ncmissouri.edu/admissions/admissions/apply/
  • Official transcripts from previous institutions must be submitted
  • Applicant must be in good academic standing with NCMC
  • Complete a satisfactory background check
    Any applicant who has been convicted of a felony and/or misdemeanor must discuss this matter with the Director of the Behavioral Health Support Program
  • Driving record cannot show a DUI or major traffic offense within the past 5 years
  • Proof of auto insurance

Eligibility requirements must be met the semester a student completes BH201 Introduction to Behavioral Health Support.

Tuition Assistance from the Missouri Department of Mental Health*

The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) has funds available to pay $2500.00 a year to financially assist students in paying the tuition and required fees for the Behavioral Health Support students who wish to participate. In exchange for DMH’s financial assistance, participants agree to reimburse DMH either through work (being employed by an approved provider for each year tuition assistance is accepted) or by repayment (if the participant leaves before completing the agreed-upon service as provided by the agreement).

To qualify, the participant:

  • Sign an agreement of understanding of the requirements for participating in the practicums
    (these are the same requirements to be hired by an approved provider)

  • Must be a student at NCMC North Belt Center
  • Must be a full-time student
  • Must sign DMH contract

*There is a limited number of students that can be eligible for the DMH Tuition Assistance Program each year. If you are interested in participating, please apply early.
