ARC Arranged Courses

Do you enjoy working at your own pace?  Do you need improvement in specific skills?  Are you one hour shy of being a full-time student? Then the ARC can help!

We offer three one-hour courses, each designed to improve your skills in a specific area.  Each class is self-paced, allowing you to work through the material at your own speed between due dates.  The ARC offers the following courses:

CS 109 African American Readings (1 credit hour)
A self-study course that will help students develop comprehension, critical analysis, vocabulary and writing skills while considering the biographies of such influential African Americans as Maya Angelou, Thurgood Marshall, Nelson Mandela and Colin Powell.  (Pass/Fail)  Prerequisite: student must score at a certain level of ACT, ASSET, SAT or complete DS015.

CS 110 Speed Reading  (1 credit hour)
A self-study course designed to help students read more quickly while improving both their comprehension and  vocabularies.  This course provides information, strategies and skills likely to produce a lifetime of more efficient reading.  (Pass/Fail)  Prerequisite: student must score at a certain level of ACT, ASSET, SAT or complete DS015.

CS 111 Women's History Readings  (1 credit hour)
A self-study course that will help students develop comprehension, critical analysis, vocabulary and writing skills while considering various aspects of women's lives, including religion, social roles, employment and education.  (Pass/Fail)  Prerequisite: student must score at a certain level of ACT, ASSET, SAT or complete DS015.

Not all classes are offered at all times.  Check the course catalog (which can be found on the NCMC website) for availability.
