1       100 Mile Club

It is SIMPLE!  You only need to keep track of how far you walk, run or stationary bike and chart that number on the bulletin board—that is it!

When you reach 100 miles you will get a certificate and recognition.

  • By walking just 6 miles a week you will get your certificate in about 4 months.

  • Give yourself something to push for.  Set a goal and meet it!

  • The goal is to promote walking through accountability and friendly competition with peers.

·     A regular walking routine is a good indicator of a healthy lifestyle.  It promotes relaxation along with providing a personal reflection time, a known stress reducer.

  • Along with your mileage, be sure to check your heart rate and your recovery heart rate.

  • A lower resting heart rate and a faster recovery heart rate, signal improved cardiorespiratory health!

  • Get credit for what you do and stay accountable.

  • Challenge a friend or colleague to participate with you.

  • A 5k/10k walk run could be offered in the spring to all students and members. Start training now!

  • Turn in your miles today!

The incidence of overweight and obesity has dramatically increased in this country in the past 30 years. Failing to maintain a healthy weight can have serious health consequences that affect the prevalence of acute and chronic conditions which compromise the quality and length of life. Healthy eating and regular physical activity are two critical components in achieving and maintaining good health.
