Articulated Credit

Important new program updates beginning August 2011.

Students can earn college credit while in high school through articulated credit. What began as Tech Prep, the program is a planned sequence of coursework developed cooperatively between the public school districts and NCMC. These programs are supported and approved by the Department of Education and Secondary Education (DESE). Tech Prep Career Pathways provide technical preparation in at least one of the following: Arts & Communications; Business, Management & Technology; Health Services; Industrial Engineering Technology; or Agriculture & Natural Resources.

Articulated credit can help prepare students for AAS degrees and technical careers. Each program prepares students for direct entry into the workplace as technically skilled employees and also provides students with opportunities to earn an advanced skills certificate or to further their studies at area universities.

One + One 30 hour block – Technical Schools

For students that have completed a technical program at a Missouri technical school, NCMC has designed a degree to allow students to use that certificate as 30 college credit hours toward an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Applied Technology. NCMC will offer the remaining 31 credit hours of technical and general education in ways that can best fit a busy schedule – either at the technical school, on the main campus in Trenton, and through online courses offered by NCMC.

As long as the student enrolls at NCMC within 15 months of graduation from high school or technical school program and the NCMC requirements are completed with a 2.0 GPA, the 30 hour block will be awarded upon completion.

For more information about articulated credit, contact the counselor or career and technology teacher at your high school or Career Center. You may also contact the Coordinator of Federal Programs at North Central Missouri College – phone: 660.359.3948 ext. 1278 or jhelton@mail.ncmissouri.edu.
