Scholarship Opportunities 

Institutional Scholarships

  • The Board of Trustees Scholarship is an academic scholarship open to high school seniors or those who have graduated within the last year. Students completing a home-school high school program are also eligible by meeting the ACT requirement below. This scholarship is determined on a competitive basis with consideration given to high school class rank, ACT score and the NCMC scholarship application.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 OR have an ACT composite score of 24 or better.
    • Be a first-time entering college student. (College credit earned while in high school does not affect initial eligibility.)
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC.

    Scholarship award could be up to $600 per semester, renewable for three additional semesters with continuous full-time enrollment and a minimum GPA of 3.25. This award can be applied to any educational expense.
  • The Missouri Boys/Girls State Scholarship is an institutional scholarship granted to two high school seniors who attended Missouri Boys or Girls State.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Have an ACT composite score of 24 or higher OR
    • graduate in the top 20% of their high school class

    Scholarship award is for one year at $500 per semester.
  • The E2 Education Empowers scholarship is awarded to an incoming full-time, first-year NCMC student. The NCMC scholarship committee will select the recipient.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Must be resident from the NCMC service area consisting of the following counties in Missouri: Andrew, Atchison, Caldwell, Daviess, De Kalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Sullivan or Worth.
    • Incoming high school students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in high school and supply a copy of their high school transcript.
    • GED students must have a minimum score of 501 and supply a copy of their GED scores.
    • College transfer students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 from the previous college and must provide a copy of their college transcript.

    Scholarship award is $600 renewable for up to 3 additional semesters with a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA. This scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books, and on campus housing. Scholarship applications are provided annually by the Financial Aid office upon request in the fall semester.
  • New Traditions scholarships are for NCMC students who are displaced homemakers, single parents, nontraditional majors, economically disadvantaged, or have a disability or limited English proficiency. Scholarship recipients will be notified by the Financial Aid Office.

  • Athletic Scholarships are available to outstanding athletes in the areas of softball, baseball and basketball. Recipients are selected on an individual basis by the NCMC Athletic Director and coaches.

  • International Scholarships are available for International students on an F-1 student visa, qualified applicants may be eligible for up to $500 a semester in scholarship funds based on funds availability. Students must live in the residence halls to receive the scholarship. Renewal of the scholarship each semester is based on maintaining F-1 visa status, satisfactory academic progress, no disciplinary actions for conduct, and continued residence in the residence halls.

State Scholarships

  • The A+ Scholarship Program provides scholarship funds to eligible graduates of an A+ designated high school who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school, or certain private two-year vocational/technical schools.   • The Access Missouri Financial Assistance Program is a need-based program designed to be simple to understand, provide predictable, portable awards, and increase access to your school of choice. Your financial eligibility is determined by your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as calculated through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).   • The Marguerite Ross Barnett Memorial Scholarship is a need-based scholarship established for students who are employed while attending school part-time. For more information or to view initial eligibility/renewal criteria, please visit http://www.dhe.mo.gov/ppc/grants/rossbarnett.php.

  • The Missouri Higher Education Academic Scholarship Program (Bright Flight Program) is a merit-based program that encourages top-ranked high school students to attended approved Missouri postsecondary schools. Students eligible for the Bright Flight Program should contact NCMC’s Financial Aid Office.

Foundation Scholarships

  • The Willis W. Alexander Scholarship was established in memory of Willis W. Alexander. Mr. Alexander was born in Trenton and earned degrees from the University of Missouri and the University of Pennsylvania. He retired as an executive vice president of the American Bankers Association and passed away in 1985. 

    Student must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enrolled as a full-time student at NCMC

    One scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • Additionally, four separate Willis W. Alexander Scholarships are given in memory of Willis Alexander by John F. Rose and Kris F. Rose.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Currently working toward an AA degree with the goal of obtaining a BS/BA degree
    • Minimum GPA of 2.5
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Demonstrate good citizenship

    Scholarship award is $500 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 2.5 GPA and continue seeking an AA degree with the goal of obtaining a BS/BA degree.
  • The Thomas Anthony, M.D. Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Thomas Anthony, M.D for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in education. Dr. Anthony completed his bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Binghamton, and then graduated with honors from the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of Washington, a surgical oncology fellowship at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, and a master’s of science degree in epidemiology from the Harvard University School of Public Health. At the time of his death, Dr. Anthony had just been appointed chief of surgery at the Boise, Idaho VA Medical Center.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Currently working toward an AA degree with the goal of obtaining a BS/BA degree in education.
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Robert Bailey Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 in memory of Robert Bailey.

    Student must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Be a Trenton High School graduate; and
    • Currently working a part-time job
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Elizabeth M. Barton Educational Fund was established by the Barton Family to be used for scholarship awards to non-traditional college students. The award amount varies.

    Student must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • First-time college student, 23 years of age or older
    • Complete a FAFSA*
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    *Federal Pell Grant eligibility will result in award being reduced or removed accordingly.
  • The Beta Sigma Phi scholarship is to be used for books at the NCMC bookstore.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Missouri resident
    • Missouri high school graduate
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Preference is given to a female student in the Allied Health program. Scholarship award is $500 for the fall semester.
  • The Sherry Carey Memorial Scholarship was established by the family in memory of Sherry Carey, a former nurse who passed away at an early age.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Currently in the LPN or RN program
      • Excelling in academics, clinical and theory
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is currently $450 for the fall semester.
  • The Warren and Nanetta Carter Women’s Basketball Scholarship is awarded to a women’s basketball player. Selection for the award is made by the head coach.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Have high moral standards
    • Demonstrate strong leadership skills
    • Currently in good standing with NCMC
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Must be a NCMC Women’s Basketball player

    Scholarship award is a minimum of $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 2.0 GPA and continue to be in good standing with NCMC. Money awarded may be applied toward tuition, fees, room & board and textbooks.
  • Warren and Nanetta Carter Women’s Softball Scholarship is awarded to a women’s softball player. Selection for the award is made by the head coach.

    Students much meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Have high moral standards
    • Demonstrate strong leadership skills
    • Currently in good standing with NCMC
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC.
    • Must be a NCMC Women’s Softball player

    Scholarship award is a minimum of $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 2.0 GPA and continue to be in good standing with NCMC. Money awarded may be applied toward tuition, fees, room & board and textbooks.
  • The Nancy and Peter Trombley Coca-Cola Scholarship is provided through the generosity of Nancy and Peter Trombley to be used to assist area students in reaching their educational goals.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Cross Allied Health Science Scholarship was established through the generosity of Dr. Albert and Carol Cross. Dr. Albert and Carol Cross of Trenton want to help students achieve their higher educational dreams which will change their lives and the lives of their families forever.  Dr. Cross is a strong believer in the importance of higher education. After high school, he attended college in Maryville. He then taught school in Melbourne, Missouri where he was also the principal. In 1951, he was called to serve his country during the Korean War. After military service, he attended and graduated from the University Of Kansas City School Of Pharmacy.  He then attended the University of Missouri’s School of Medicine while working as a Pharmacist. After graduating from medical school, he did his residency at Kansas City General Hospital. Thereafter, Dr. Cross practiced in the medical field in Trenton from 1963 to 1995.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Demonstrate financial need

    Scholarship award is $500 for the fall semester, renewable in the spring semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA. Money awarded may be applied toward tuition, fees, room & board and textbooks.
  • The William and Juanita Denslow Scholarship was established by the Denslow family to assist a student from northern Missouri achieve their higher educational goals.

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA. Money awarded may be applied toward tuition, fees, room & board and textbooks.
  • The George and Marguerite Dunn Scholarship was established in 1978 by the Dunn family.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Margaret Ellsworth P.E.O. Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the LPN or RN program.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Nursing student; LPN or RN program
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is a minimum of $350 for the fall semester. Money awarded may be applied toward tuition, fees and textbooks.
  • The Lynn Freeman Scholarship was established in memory of Lynn Freeman and his outstanding service to the local community.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Be a Trenton High School graduate
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Everett and Hazel Frey Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Everett and Hazel Frey.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • 2.0 renewal GPA

    Scholarship award is $350 for the fall semester, renewable in the spring semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 2.0 GPA. Money awarded may be applied toward tuition, fees, room & board and textbooks.
  • The Goodin Top AAT Student Award is provided through the generosity of Marian Goodin; retired instructor at NCMC. This award is given to the top Associate Arts in Teaching (AAT) student.

    Scholarship award is $500 for the fall semester. The money can be used at student discretion.
  • The Betty Frances Hall Scholarship was established in 1993 after the death of Nadine Hall.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Be a “Non-Traditional” student; out of high school for 5 years or more and has not attended college prior
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

  • The Phil Hauck & Carl and Louise Roda Scholarship was established in 2004 in Memory of Phil Hauck & Carl and Louise Roda.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Dorothy Henggeler Memorial Nursing Scholarship was established in 2011 in memory of Dorothy Henggeler, LPN.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Be a NCMC student, pursuing an Associate’s degree in nursing though the Maryville satellite program
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA. Money awarded may be applied toward tuition, fees, room & board and textbooks.
  • The Alice Mae Hoffman Scholarship was established in memory of Alice Mae Hoffman.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The H.F. Hoffman Scholarship was established in memory of H.F. Hoffman.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Jeanette Hoffman Robison Scholarship was established in memory of Jeanette Hoffman Robison.

    Student must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Demonstrate excellent academics;
    • Good moral character; and
    • Demonstrate financial need

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Charles and Virginia Holmes (Rotary) Scholarship was established in memory of Charles and Virginia Holmes.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • THS Senior planning to attend NCMC
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Application process through THS
    • 3.0 GPA

    Scholarship is a $350 one time award in the fall semester.
  • The Vern E. Hurt Agricultural Scholarship was established by the Hoffman Family in memory of Vern E. Hurt. Mr. Hurt was born in Trenton and graduated from Trenton High School. Following high school, he attended Trenton Junior College (now known as North Central Missouri College) and the University of Missouri. Mr. Hurt served two years in the United States Coast Guard before starting his 40-year career with the National Park Service. He was a Park Service Ranger and later a Safety Manager, serving in Badlands National Park, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Point Reyes National Seashore, Yellowstone National Park and Cape Cod National Park. He retired from the National Park Service in 2006.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Be a full-time NCMC sophomore student, pursing a degree related to the Agriculture and Natural Resources career pathway

    In addition to the NCMC Scholarship Application, provide the following:

    • Career Planning application – developed by National PAS Organization and includes the following:
      • Short and long-term goals
      • Occupational surveys
      • Individual competency goals
      • Training/work experience plan
      • Plan to develop leadership and human relations skills
    • Current resume
      • Specify short and long term educational and professional goals

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Lloyd and Margaret Ketcham Scholarship was established in memory of Lloyd and Margaret Ketcham.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Be a full-time NCMC sophomore student
    • Demonstrate financial need

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The NCMC Foundation Knowledge Fund is NCMC’s endowed scholarship fund.

    Student’s must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Allen Moore III and Annie B. Moore Scholarship was established in 2002 in memory of Allen Moore III and Annie B. Moore.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC, currently residing in Livingston County

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Christopher P. Raynes Scholarship was established in 2005 in memory of Christopher P. Raynes.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Be a full-time NCMC sophomore student

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Thomas and Edna Rehard Scholarship was established in 1998 in memory of Thomas and Edna Rehard. Mrs. Rehard actually left a part of her estate to education.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Judge V.C. (Casey) Rose and Dorothy Friedrich Rose Scholarship for Ethics and Good Citizenship was established in memory of Judge V.C. (Casey) Rose and Dorothy Friedrich Rose.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Demonstrate ethics and good citizenship

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The C.F. Russell Scholarship was established in 1992 in memory of Trenton’s long time coach C.F. Russell and is a great opportunity for Grundy County athletes.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Be an athlete in Grundy County

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Maude K. Ryan Memorial Nursing Scholarship was established by Dr. David Ryan in memory of his mother Maude K. Ryan. The Maude K. Ryan Memorial Nursing Scholarship honors the former NCMC Allied Health faculty member by awarding a one-year, $2000 scholarship to a nursing student with preference given to an RN Student. Selection for this award is contingent upon NCMC Allied Health faculty recommendation.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC in the nursing program.
    • Have high academic record.
  • The Patricia Sapko Nursing Scholarship was established in memory of Patricia Sapko. 

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Be enrolled in the ADN, PN, EMT-Paramedic or Medical Assistant program
    • Demonstrate financial need

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Evans Schafer Scholarship was established in memory of Gladys Shafer.  

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Demonstrate financial need

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Paul and Betty Preston Steele Agriculture Scholarship was established by Paul and Betty Preston Steele and is presented annually to a sophomore student pursuing a degree related to the Agriculture and Natural Resources career pathway.

    Selection criteria:

    • NCMC general scholarship application
    • Career Planning application – developed by National PAS Organization and includes the following:
      • Short and long term goals
      • Occupational surveys
      • Individual competency goals
      • Training/work experience plan
      • Plan to develop leadership and human relations skills
    • Current resume

    Scholarship award is a minimum of $350 per semester, distributed during the student’s second year at NCMC. Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time enrollment. Money awarded may be applied toward tuition, fees, books, room and board for on-campus housing.
  • The Millennium +2 Practical Nursing Scholarship was established by NCMC Practical Nursing students.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Plan to enroll in or are enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program at NCMC
    • Be a Missouri resident
      • Demonstrate financial need
      • Not a recipient of a Pell Grant
      • Currently do not work full-time
      • Currently do not depend on parent’s for financial support

    Scholarship award is $350 for the spring semester.
  • Serve Link Scholarships are offered through the generosity of Serve Link Homecare of Trenton, MO. Serve Link is committed to serving the residents of the Green Hills Region with quality in-home care. The awarding of scholarships to students who are training to become health care professionals is an important aspect of their commitment to the Green Hills area. Serve Link encourages local residents who wish to prepare themselves for a health care career to apply. To obtain a scholarship application for this specific scholarship opportunity, please contact the Allied Health Department at NCMC.
  • The Don Sturgis Scholarship was established through the generosity of Don Sturgis and friends to honor Coach Sturgis, a native of Pattonsburg and Trenton Junior College (now North Central Missouri College) alumni.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Currently excelling in academics
    • Demonstrate athletic ability
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Demonstrate ethical values
  • The Harry F. Sugg Athletic Scholarship was established to recognize a “worthy” athletic student in memory of Harry F. Sugg.

    Scholarship award is $500 for the fall semester.
  • The VanVactor Nursing Scholarship was established in memory of Marguerite “Peggy” VanVactor. 

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Be a 2nd year student enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program at NCMC
    • Plans for employment in North West Missouri area following completion.
    • Good moral character

    Scholarship award is $350 for the spring semester.
  • The Mary Ruth Veatch Scholarship was established in memory of Mary Ruth Veatch. 

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Demonstrate financial need

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Mark and Rebekah Whitaker Memorial Scholarship

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC

    Scholarship award is $500 for the fall semester.
  • The WW “Pete” and Dolores Peery Scholarship Established by Pete and Dolores Peery.

    Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:

    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Demonstrate financial need

    Scholarship award is $350 per semester, renewable for one semester with continuous full-time enrollment, provided you achieve a 3.0 GPA.
