Institutional Scholarships

  • The Board of Trustees Scholarshipis an academic scholarship open to high school seniors or those who have graduated within the last year. Students completing a home-school high school program are also eligible by meeting the ACT requirement below. As funds are limited, scholarships are awarded to students with the highest GPA and ACT scores first. Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:
    • Have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 OR have an ACT composite score of 24 or better.
    • Be a first-time entering college student. (College credit earned while in high school does not affect initial eligibility.)
    • Enroll as a full-time student at NCMC.

Scholarship award could be up to $600 per semester, renewable for three additional semesters with continuous full-time enrollment and a minimum GPA of 3.25. This award can be applied to any educational expense.

  • The E2 Education Empowers scholarship is awarded to an incoming full-time, first-year NCMC student. The NCMC scholarship committee will select the recipient. Students must meet the following criteria to be considered:
    • Must be resident from the NCMC service area consisting of the following counties in Missouri: Andrew, Atchison, Caldwell, Daviess, De Kalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Sullivan or Worth.
    • Incoming high school students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in high school and supply a copy of their high school transcript.
    • GED students must have a minimum score of 501 and supply a copy of their GED scores.
    • College transfer students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 from the previous college and must provide a copy of their college transcript.

Scholarship award is $600 per semester renewable for up to 3 additional semesters with a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA. This scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books, or on campus housing. Scholarship applications are provided annually by the Financial Aid office upon request in the fall semester.

  • New Traditions scholarships are for NCMC students who are displaced homemakers, single parents, nontraditional majors, economically disadvantaged, or have a disability or limited English proficiency. Scholarship recipients will be notified by the Financial Aid Office.
  • Athletic Scholarships are available to outstanding athletes in the areas of softball, baseball, basketball and golf. Recipients are selected on an individual basis by the NCMC Athletic Director and coaches.
  • International Scholarships are available for International students on an F-1 student visa, qualified applicants may be eligible for up to $500 a semester in scholarship funds based on funds availability. Renewal of the scholarship each semester is based on maintaining F-1 visa status, satisfactory academic progress, and no disciplinary actions for conduct.

State Scholarships

  • The A+ Scholarship Program provides scholarship funds to eligible graduates of an A+ designated high school who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school, or certain private two-year vocational/technical schools.   • The Access Missouri Financial Assistance Programis a need-based program designed to be simple to understand, provide predictable, portable awards, and increase access to your school of choice. Your financial eligibility is determined by your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as calculated through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).   • The Marguerite Ross Barnett Memorial Scholarshipis a need-based scholarship established for students who are employed while attending school part-time. For more information or to view initial eligibility/renewal criteria, please visit http://www.dhe.mo.gov/ppc/grants/rossbarnett.php.
  • The Missouri Higher Education Academic Scholarship Program (Bright Flight Program) is a merit-based program that encourages top-ranked high school students to attend approved Missouri postsecondary schools. Students eligible for the Bright Flight Program should contact NCMC’s Financial Aid Office. NCMC Foundation Scholarships

To be considered for a NCMC Foundation scholarship, you must:

  • Be admitted as a degree-seeking student, by doing the following:
  • Complete and submit an Application for Admission to the Admissions Office.
  • Have high school transcripts, GED transcripts, or a home-schooled certificate and/or college transcripts on file in the Admissions Office. Don’t forget dual credit transcripts!
  • Complete and submit a Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa
  • Complete and submit a NCMC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The NCMC Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee reviews all scholarship applications and determines who will be awarded a scholarship(s). For scholarship applications submitted by April 1st, recipients or high school counselors/officials will be notified within the first week of May for recognition at appropriate high school awards ceremonies. Unless otherwise noted, many scholarships are renewable for a second semester if the recipient maintains full-time status and achieves a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA. 

Willis W. Alexander Scholarship

Established in memory of Willis W. Alexander.

Additionally, (1) Willis W. Alexander Scholarship will be given in memory of Willis Alexander by John F. Rose and Kris F. Rose.

  • Currently working toward an AA degree with the goal of obtaining a BS/BA degree
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Demonstrate good citizenship
  • Currently enrolled in an Economics class at NCMC

Thomas Anthony, M.D. Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Thomas Anthony, M.D. for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in education.

Robert Bailey Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2004 in memory of Robert Bailey.

  • Trenton High School graduate
  • Currently working a part-time job

Elizabeth M. Barton Education Fund

Student must be out of high school 5 years or more.

Peter Brewer Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Peter Brewer. Student must be pursuing a degree related to Agriculture & Natural Resources.

Sarah Joe Alden & Thomas V. Brown Scholarship

Established in 2018 to honor of Sarah Joe Alden and Thomas V. Brown.

  • Currently working toward an AA Teaching degree
  • 3.0 GPA

Warren and Nanetta Carter Women’s Basketball Scholarship

Warren and Nanetta Carter Women’s Softball Scholarship

Warren and Nanetta Carter Women’s Golf Scholarship

Awarded to a NCMC women’s basketball player, softball player or golfer.

    • Demonstrate strong leadership skills
    • 2.0 cumulative GPA
    • Have high moral standards

Church Women United of Grundy County Scholarship

Funded by profits from the local Thrift Shop.

  • Currently residing in Grundy County
  • Currently in one of the following programs: AA Teaching, Agriculture & Natural Resources or Allied Health.

Creative Planning Inc. Scholarship

Established by Mike Roberts and the late Scott Esry.

Linda Crooks Educational Scholarship*

Established in 2018 by Linda Crooks.

  • Currently residing in northern Missouri within the 16 county region
  • 3.0 GPA Freshman, minimum 2.5 GPA Sophomore

Brad Cross Family NCMC Baseball Scholarship

Established in 2017 by the Brad Cross Family. Student must be a men’s baseball player.

William and Juanita Denslow Scholarship

Established by the Denslow family to assist a student from northern Missouri.

Jack and Annie Derry Scholarship

Established by the Derry family.

  • Must be a freshman or sophomore women’s softball player
  • Currently residing in northern Missouri within the 16 county region

George and Marguerite Dunn Scholarship*

Established in 1978 by the Dunn family.

Evans Schafer Scholarship*

Established in memory of Gladys Shafer.

Excel Scholarship*

Established in 2018 by Brandi Milbourn.

  • Missouri resident
  • High School graduate, GED holder or home school degree
  • Preferably working part time
  • Currently not dependent on parents for financial support
  • Specify short and long term educational and professional goals
  • Specify community involvement

Lynn Freeman Scholarship*

Established in memory of Lynn Freeman. Students must be a Trenton High School graduate.

Everett and Hazel Frey Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Everett and Hazel Frey. Students must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA.

Nadine Hall Scholarship*

Established in 1993 after the death of Nadine Hall by her sister Betty Frances Hall. Student must be out of high school 5 years or more and not previously attended college.

Phil Hauck & Carl and Louise Roda Scholarship*

Established in 2004 in Memory of Phil Hauck & Carl and Louise Roda. Student must be studying Education or Agriculture & Natural Resources.

Alice Mae Hoffman Scholarship*

Established in memory of Alice Mae Hoffman.

Charles D. Hoffman Scholarship*

Established in memory of Charles D. Hoffman.

H.F. Hoffman Scholarship*

Established in memory of H.F. Hoffman.

Charles and Virginia Holmes (Rotary) Scholarship

Established in memory of Charles and Virginia Holmes. Scholarship is a one-time award.

  • Trenton High School Senior planning to attend NCMC
  • 3.0 GPA

Vern E. Hurt Agricultural Scholarship

Established by the Hoffman Family in memory of Vern E. Hurt. Student must be a sophomore, and pursing a degree related to Agriculture & Natural Resources.
In addition to the NCMC Scholarship application, provide the following:

  • Career Planning application – developed by National PAS Organization
  • Current resume

Paul D. and Emogene L. Jackson Scholarship

Established by Phyllis Jackson in 2017 to honor her parents.

  • Currently working toward an AAS with Business emphasis
  • 3.0 GPA

Lloyd and Margaret Ketcham Scholarship*

Established in memory of Lloyd and Margaret Ketcham. Student must be a full-time sophomore.

Velda Kincaid Scholarship

Established from the estate of Velda Kincaid. Student must be pursuing a degree in education. Preference given to classroom teachers.

Dr. Lenny and Pam Klaver Leadership Scholarship

Established in 2018 by Dr. Lenny and Pam Klaver.

  • Demonstrate service to campus and community
  • Completed 24 credit hours at NCMC
  • 3.0 GPA

Knowledge Fund

The NCMC Foundation’s endowed scholarship fund.

Ray Lymer Scholarship*

Established in memory of Ray Lymer. Student must be a full-time sophomore.

Allen Moore III and Annie B. Moore Scholarship

Established in 2002 in memory of Allen Moore III and Annie B. Moore. Student must be currently residing in Livingston County.

Mundell Memorial Thank a Farmer Scholarship

Established by Brenda (Mundell) Harmon in memory of her late parents, Junius and Lou Mundell.

  • Must be a freshman
  • Pursing a degree related to Agriculture & Natural Resources
  • Primary preference given to graduate of Meadville R-IV or Linn County R-I high school

Harry Patton Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Harry Patton.

W.W. “Pete” and Dolores Peery Scholarship*

Established by Pete and Dolores Peery. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Christopher P. Raynes Scholarship

Established in 2005 in memory of Christopher P. Raynes. Student must be a full-time sophomore.

Thomas and Edna Rehard Scholarship

Established in 1998 in memory of Thomas and Edna Rehard.

Mark and Kathleen Robinson Scholarship

Established in 2018 by Mark and Kathleen Robinson. Student must be a men’s basketball player.

Jeanette Hoffman Robison Scholarship*

Established in memory of Jeanette Hoffman Robison.

  • Demonstrate excellent academics
  • Demonstrate good moral character

Judge V.C. (Casey) Rose and Dorothy Friedrich Rose Scholarship

Established in memory of Judge V.C. (Casey) Rose and Dorothy Friedrich Rose. Student must demonstrate ethics and good citizenship.

C.F. Russell Scholarship

Established in 1992 in memory of Trenton’s long time coach C.F. Russell. Student must be an athlete from Grundy County.

Paul and Betty Preston Steele Agriculture Scholarship

Established by Paul and Betty Preston Steele.  Student must be a sophomore, and pursing a degree related to Agriculture & Natural Resources.
In addition to the NCMC Scholarship application, provide the following:

  • Career Planning application – developed by National PAS Organization
  • Current resume

Don Sturgis Scholarship*

Established through the generosity of Don Sturgis and friends to honor Coach Sturgis.

  • Currently excelling in academics
  • Demonstrate athletic ability
  • Demonstrate ethical values

Harry F. Sugg Athletic Scholarship

Established in memory of Harry F. Sugg.

Nancy and Peter Trombley Coca-Cola Scholarship

Provided through the generosity of Nancy and Peter Trombley.

Mary Ruth Veach Scholarship*

Established in memory of Mary Ruth Veach. Scholarship is a one-time award.

VFW Post 919 Scholarship

Established for all students, but preference given to active duty military members, reservists and honorably discharged military veterans.

Mark and Rebekah Whiteaker Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Mark and Rebekah Whiteaker. Student must be a women’s basketball player, men’s basketball player, women’s softball player or men’s baseball player.

Jack N. Young, Mildred M. Young, Noble J. Young and Myra A. Young Scholarship

Established from the estate of Jack N. Young and Mildred M. Young. 

Pirate’s Pride Top Student Scholarship

Awarded in honor of Jack N. Young, Mildred M. Young, Noble J. Young and Myra A. Young.

  • High School GPA of 4.0
  • 26 ACT or SAT equivalent
  • Demonstrate school/community leadership

Scholarship award is renewable for three additional semesters with continuous full-time enrollment and a minimum 3.5 GPA. This award can be applied for books, course fees, and on-campus housing.

Missouri Boys/Girls State Scholarship

Awarded in honor of Jack N. Young, Mildred M. Young, Noble J. Young and Myra A. Young to two high school seniors who attended Missouri Boys or Girls State. Scholarship award is for one year. Student must have an ACT composite score of 24 or higher OR graduate in the top 20% of their high school class.
*Denotes scholarships that students must demonstrate financial need to be considered.

By signing the scholarship application, you are confirming and acknowledging the following:

I confirm the information I’ve provided is accurate and give permission for the scholarship committee to access and review my academic and financial records (including, but not limited to: Tuition balances, course schedule, grades, etc.) I also understand that scholarship monies are limited and qualification does not guarantee award. I also agree to send a letter of thanks to the NCMC Foundation prior to being awarded the money. I understand that if a thank you note is not received by the disbursement date of the term, scholarship award(s) may be reallocated. 
Scholarships are considered awards and recipient names, excerpts from the recipient’s scholarship essay, and photos may be used in publications.
