Instructor Allied Health-Bethany

Reporting Structure:           Reports to the Director of Allied Health Services

 

Position Summary:              Teach Maternal Child Nursing I and Maternal Nursing II (OB & PEDS) at the Bethany  site.

 

Essential Functions:            

  • Develop course syllabi and lesson plans, and apply teaching techniques to best achieve course and programmatic objectives.
  • Model effective oral and written communication that engages the students, provides clarity, and improves student learning.
  • Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment, and examination dates.
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Continuously improve instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods to ensure student success; such as collaborative learning, learning communities, service learning, instructional technology and distance education to enhance retention.
  • Provide access to students by posting office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
  • Maintain current knowledge in subject-matter as well as effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Education:        Bachelor of Science in Nursing field  and unencumbered Missouri license required; Prefer Master’s degree in related field.

     

    Experience:       Two years of clinical practice, administration, or education. 

    Skills:               Strong communication skills. Provide sound evidence of effective teaching ability and management. Possess creative, innovative, and diverse approaches to teaching.  Ability to develop interpersonal relationships with faculty, students, and cooperating agencies.
