Unattended Children    

General Circulation Policies:

       A picture ID is required for material checkout. This applies to students and community patrons.

       Books may be checked out for a period of three weeks, with renewals available, if there is no hold on the book.

       Periodicals, videos, records, and audiocassettes may be checked out for a period of three days, with renewals available, if there is no hold on the materials.

       A 10 cent fine is charged, per item/ per day, for late materials. Replacement fees are charged for lost or damaged materials.

       Staff and students may borrow books through the MOBIUS consortium if the NCMC library does not own a copy. If MOBIUS does not own a copy, the student may utilize Interlibrary Loan.

        Community members may borrow through traditional Interlibrary Loan at the public library.

       MOBIUS replacement fees are determined by the consortium and average $120.

       Some materials placed on reserve by instructors are available for three hour checkout in the library. A 10 cent fine is charged, per item/per hour, for late materials.

       NCMC students may borrow materials from the Grundy County Jewett Norris Library. Please read the lending conditions in the Memorandum  of  Understanding.

General Patron Policies:

       Please help us to maintain a generally quiet working atmosphere throughout the facility, and avoid any conversation or other disturbance in designated quiet areas.

       Set cell phones in silent mode and conduct conversations outside the Library.

       Respect Library materials and remove items from the Library only after checking them out.

       Food and beverages are allowed in the Library but not at computer terminals. Containers and waste are to be properly disposed.

       Solicitation and selling is not allowed in the Library. Seek permission of Library Administration to display or distribute notices.

       Follow all rules and regulations of NCMC, and all relevant federal, state and municipal laws.

       If, after adequate warning, a Library patron fails to abide by our established patron responsibilities, he or she may be asked to leave the facility. Appropriate personnel will be called for assistance in the event of further non-compliance.

General Computer Policies:

       The first priority of computer use is academic pursuit.

       No food or drink is allowed by computer terminals.

       All patrons must comply with the NCMC acceptable use policy regarding computers. See North Central Missouri College Computer Use Policy in the NCMC Catalog.

       Patrons who are not NCMC students must be 18 years or older to access the Internet.

 

 

Constituents Served:

NCMC Students, Faculty, and Staff

For purposes of this policy NCMC Students are defined as persons enrolled in an NCMC credit class whether on campus, online, dual credit, or outreach. Faculty is defined as current instructors whether full-time or adjunct and faculty emeriti. Staff is defined as current members of administration, management, or classified staff.

       Students, faculty, and staff of North Central Missouri College are the primary patrons of the NCMC Library. 

       Print, audiovisual, and electronic collections of the library, including access to monographs from the MOBIUS consortium and remote access to NCMC’s purchased electronic databases, are available to all members of the college community. 

       Audiovisual equipment is available to faculty, staff and students. 

       Students, faculty, and staff use the NCMC identification card to check out materials. 

       Computers, word processing software, and Internet access are available. NCMC students, faculty, and staff must comply with the NCMC acceptable use policy regarding computers.  See North Central Missouri College Computer Use Policy in the NCMC Catalog

 

Students Enrolled in Affiliated Missouri College/University Programs Delivered on the NCMC Campus

       Students enrolled in these programs have the same privileges and responsibilities as NCMC students with the following exception—

       There is no remote access to NCMC’s purchased electronic databases

 

Graceland Students

       Graceland students have the same privileges and responsibilities as NCMC students with the following exceptions—

       There is no access to MOBIUS materials.

       There is no remote access to NCMC’s purchased electronic databases.

  

Community Patrons

The NCMC Library is open to community patrons with several provisos.

     Community patrons are defined as adults, 18 years of age or older, who reside within the NCMC service region. 

     Community patrons must show proof of residence and provide a picture ID in order to check out materials. 

         The print, audiovisual, and electronic collections of the library are available to community patrons; however, access to MOBIUS materials and remote access to NCMC’s purchased electronic databases are not available.

     Community patrons may use the premises, assistance, and services of the NCMC Library with the understanding that NCMC students, faculty, and staff have first priority. 

     Community patrons will be required to sign in and sign out when using the computers in the library. The time limit for using the library computers is one hour. 

     Community patrons may use the computers, word processing software, and Internet access when not in use by NCMC students, faculty and staff.  Community patrons must comply with the NCMC acceptable use policy regarding computers.  See North Central Missouri College Computer Use Policy in the NCMC Catalog

        Printing from the library computers costs ten cents per page.

        •    Interlibrary loan service should be obtained through the community patron’s public library.

Unattended Children Policies

For the purposes of this policy, the terms “child” or “children” are defined as any youth under the age of 14 who is not enrolled as an NCMC student or enrolled in a NCMC college supported activity.

 

The North Central Missouri College Library provides an adult environment for the purpose of academic research and support of the college curriculum.

       Library staff cannot supervise and monitor unattended children and guarantee their safety and protection.

       NCMC assumes no responsibility or liability for children, or for any accidents or injuries incurred by children, in any unsupervised situation not approved by the NCMC College administration.

       While in the NCMC Library a parent or adult guardian must accompany and supervise children.

        Parents and adult guardians are responsible for children’s use of the NCMC Library, including access to the Internet. 

       Patrons who are not NCMC students must be 18 years or older to access the Internet.

        Supervision or restriction of a minor’s access to the Internet or other Library materials is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.

       The NCMC Library may not be held responsible for the content of anything that a child may view or hear.

       Children, accompanied by an adult, are expected to abide by all NCMC Library conduct policies.  See General Patron Policies
