North Central Missouri College’s Upward Bound program hosted an Academic Bowl on Thursday, June 21, as a part of their summer six-week residential component at NCMC. Members of Upward Bound programs from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville joined NCMC’s U.B. to participate in several contests. Approximately 150 students were in attendance.
Upward Bound is an externally funded pre-college program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education (TRiO). NCMC enrolls 50 participants from selected high schools in Grundy, Daviess, Caldwell, and Livingston Counties designed to provide academic instruction, motivational skills, and other support services necessary to give an extra push to individuals interested in attending college.
