Columbia Duo to Attend NCMC

February 3, 2012

A duo from Columbia Hickman High School have signed letters of intent to attend and play softball at North Central Missouri College in Trenton next fall.  NCMC Head Softball Coach Kristin Boyes announced today that Hickman seniors Cassidy Janicek, an infielder, and Olivia Lotven, a catcher, have signed with the Lady Pirates.

Janicek, the daughter of Christine and Ray Janicek, has earned varsity letters in softball for three years and for soccer two years.  A National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association scholar-athlete for two years, she also has received multiple MVP awards in United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) activities.  Her batting average is .371, on-base-percentage .444, slugging percentage .452, on-base-plus-slugging .896, and fielding .900.  Her other activities include FCA, YoungLife, A+, Trireme, and volunteer work at the Central Missouri Food Bank.  Her long-term goal is to become a neonatal nurse.

Lotven is the daughter of Tony and Melynda Lotven.  She has played for the Revolutions, a traveling softball team, for six years and is in Kansas City’s USSSA Homerun Home of Fame.  Last summer, her batting average was .345 with two home runs, a slugging percentage of .621, and a fielding percentage of .970.  She is a member of the Future Educators of America and the French Honors Society at Hickman High School, and she wants to become a middle school special education teacher.

Janicek and Lotven will join Danessa Derry from Princeton as freshmen on next year’s Lady Pirates softball team.
