Plans for the construction of the official welcome sign to the Elizabeth and Arthur Barton Farm Campus of North Central Missouri College got one step closer today. The first order of bricks was submitted to the company selected to engrave the bricks for the sign to be erected at the entrance of the college’s new agriculture campus southeast of Trenton.
Over 300 brick orders were verified by the NCMC Foundation staff with plans for construction in early spring. “A second and possible third order will follow in the next few weeks,” reported College Foundation Director Steve Maxey. Plans for the sign include the lettering announcing the Elizabeth and Arthur Barton Farm Campus as well as the engraved bricks, hoping to reach 500 or more when completed.
A total of eight states are currently represented with the names of individuals, families, businesses and organizations engraved in the personalized bricks.
Maxey says the sign will include lighting and landscaping and, depending on the exact number of bricks, it is hoped that two columns will be featured with walls containing additional names on each side of the columns.
Orders will continue to be accepted for the bricks at $100 each. After costs for the sign are complete, remaining dollars will support building costs of the farm campus. Persons still wanting to order a brick may do by completing the order form on the college web site or by contacting the NCMC Foundation Office in Trenton.
