Former NCMC Baseball Player Earns First Professional Win

August 7, 2014

Former North Central Missouri College pitcher Silas Bohannan earned his first professional win with a 6-1 victory for the Gulf Coast League Cardinals on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Silas, a member of the 2011 and 2012 Pirates baseball team, threw 2.1 innings in relief to pick up the win. He allowed no walks or hits and struck out two as the team combined for a no-hitter.

Silas signed with the St. Louis Cardinals organization as a free agent and had his first outing for the rookie league Cardinals on July 19. To date, Silas has appeared in five games and has an ERA of 5.40. “I am glad to see Silas pitching in a developmental setting,” commented Donnie Hillerman, NCMC Head Baseball Coach. “I believe it is the right opportunity for him to continue to develop as he has great potential. The NCMC Pirates baseball coaching staff are proud of Silas’ accomplishments and wish him continued success in his professional baseball career.”
