Plans were announced today by the North Central Missouri College Foundation for a benefit golf tournament in Trenton. Officials of the Foundation hope this will become an annual event with the 2012 tournament scheduled for Thursday, August 30th at the Riverside Country Club in Trenton.
All proceeds from the benefit will support the scholarship fund of the College Foundation at NCMC. “This is an effort that has been in the planning for a long time” said Steve Maxey “and one that we believe will bring both alums and friends of the college to Trenton to have fun while generating dollars for scholarships at NCMC.”
Morning and afternoon tee times are available with preferences for desired times given on a first-come first-served basis. Maxey went on to say “the committee responsible for the planning felt the Thursday before Trenton High School/Trenton Junior College Alumni Week-end would be an ideal time to host the event and we truly hope the first tourney will bring out lots of participants.”
Over 10,000 brochures are in the mail to alums of the local college alums as well as friends of the institution with other materials available in the NCMC Foundation Office on the local campus. A three-person scramble is the format for the tournament. Team sponsorships as well as event and hole sponsorships are also available. Contributions to the scholarship fund for those unable or not wanting to play golf but support the scholarship fund will also be accepted.
Five teams were entered on the first day of available applications serving as indicator that participation will be strong for the 2012 event.
