North Central Missouri College will host their annual “Meet the Pirates Night” on Thursday, October 24 to introduce this year’s men’s and women’s athletic teams. Also, both basketball teams will scrimmage and members of the baseball team will be offered in a service auction. Activities will begin at 6 p.m. in the Ketcham Community Center on the college campus with all members of the community invited to attend. Admission is free.
The Lady Pirates basketball team will scrimmage at approximately 6:20 p.m. in two 10-minute running-clock halves, and the Pirates basketball team will scrimmage at approximately 7:30 in the same format. There will also be a 3-point shooting contest pitting men/women/baseball/softball players against one another.
At various breaks during the evening, all members of each team will be introduced and the baseball players will be auctioned off for their annual service fundraiser. Professional auctioneers Bill Brinser and Junior Mullenix of Trenton will auction the young men, who will then be asked to perform various jobs of the purchaser’s choice. Examples of jobs done in the past include hanging Christmas lights, car washing, landscaping projects, cleaning horse stalls, and visiting a local grade school to interact with children to promote ideal role modeling.
The home opener for NCMC Pirates basketball is Saturday, November 2 beginning at 4 p.m. The first home doubleheader will be Wednesday, November 6, with the Lady Pirates’ tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
