Pirates Sign Player from Hughesville

Cortlen Austin, a student at Northwest Hughesville High School (in Pettis County) is the latest announced recruit for the Pirates baseball team at North Central Missouri College in Trenton. Assistant Baseball Coach Ryan Suttenfield said, “Cortlen is an infielder who can play multiple positions and hit well. We see Cortlen as a versatile player whose bat will get him in the lineup. During his junior year he was a First Team All-State infielder; he is very athletic and has played multiple sports during his high school career.” Previously signed recruits for the Pirates are Gordon Arthaud and Smith Kemper from South Callaway and Cody Arella from Orchard Farm High School.
