Pitcher from LaPlata Signs with College

February 2, 2012

Justin Riggins, a student at LaPlata High School, has signed a letter of intent to pitch for the Pirates baseball team at North Central Missouri College in Trenton.  Riggins was the starting/winning pitcher in the Class 1 State Baseball Championship game in spring 2011 for LaPlata.

Head baseball coach Donnie Hillerman commented about Justin, “He has a good arm and shows a lot of promise.  We are excited to have Justin become a part of our program as I believe he will develop into a quality pitcher and represent NCMC well.”

As a freshman, Riggins was a member of the LaPlata team that finished in third place for Missouri High School Class 1 baseball.  He was an Honorable Mention for the All-Conference Team in fall 2010, Second Team All-State Pitcher in the spring 2011, and First Team All-Conference in fall 2011.  Also, he is a member of the Honor Roll, Beta, FCCLA, FBLA, and L-Club as well as Children's Worship Leader for the Crossing in Kirksville.  His parents are Russ and Trisha Riggins and he has a brother, Tanner.
