Planning Underway for Third Annual Golf Tournament

February 13, 2014

The Third Annual North Central Missouri College Foundation Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, August 29 at the Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe. Teresa J. Cross, NCMC Director of Development, commented, “Like last year, the Golf Planning Committee felt that Friday of the Labor Day weekend would be an ideal time to hold this event.”

All proceeds from the benefit will support the Foundation’s Knowledge Scholarship Fund at NCMC. “We are looking forward to another wonderful tournament,” said Cross. “We know that it will bring both alums and friends of the college together for a fun activity while generating dollars toward college scholarships. This effort will benefit our students for years to come by increasing our endowed Knowledge Scholarship Fund.”

The Green Hills Golf Course will be a change in venue for this activity, as the first two tournaments were held at Riverside Country Club in Trenton. However, this year the Golf Committee decided to implement their original plan to move the tournament around to different courses within the college’s 16-county service area. Ms. Cross said, “The Green Hills course is the logical first step in this move. Chillicothe is easily accessible for Trenton residents and we have a large number of students and alums from Livingston County. We hope this will add to our number of participating teams as well as generate additional support for our Scholarship Fund Drive.”

A three-person scramble is the format for the tournament. As Green Hills is an 18-hole course, it is tentatively planned for all teams to tee off at 11 a.m. Prizes will be given to the top teams and winners of various contests. Lunch will be provided. Team registration forms will be available soon at the Development Office at NCMC as well as at various golf courses in the region.

Team sponsorships as well as event and hole sponsorships are available. Contributions to the scholarship fund for those unable or not wanting to play golf but who want to support the NCMC Foundation’s Knowledge Scholarship Fund will also be accepted and appreciated.
