Students Participate in National PAS Conference

Six agriculture students from North Central Missouri College in Trenton participated in the National Postsecondary Agriculture Student (PAS) Organization Conference March 12-15. The conference was held in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Over 600 agriculture students competed in Career Program Areas, participated in leadership workshops, and toured central Minnesota attractions. The NCMC delegation visited the Schilfebein Angus Farm and attended workshops covering precision agriculture and enhancing agriculture’s image.

NCMC students who attended the conference were: Lane Aldrich, Excelsior Springs; Britney Adam, Lathrop; Megan Beck, Gallatin; Shelby Lowrey, Laredo; Sara Miles, Leonard; and Jacob Roth, Blackwater. They were accompanied by NCMC Agriculture and Natural Resources Instructor David Nowland. NCMC graduates Taylor Lynch and Shelby Chaney completed their terms as the National Postsecondary Agriculture Student Organization’s President and Vice President at this conference.

Students earning recognition as national finalists in Career Program Areas were: Megan Beck (first place in Career Planning, Non-Ruminant Animal Systems); Britney Adam (second place in Career Planning, Ruminant Animal Systems); Shelby Lowrey (second place in Career Planning, Agribusiness Management Systems); Sara Miles (third place in Career Planning, Agricultural Education Systems); Jacob Roth (fifth place in Career Planning, Plant Systems); Lane Aldrich (second place in Career Progress, Plant Systems and third place in Employment Interview, Crop Production).

The National PAS Organization was founded in 1980 in Kansas City. Its mission is to provide opportunities for individual growth, leadership and career preparation. North Central Missouri College is a charter member of both the Missouri and National PAS organizations.

North Central Missouri College offers Associate of Applied Science and Associate of Arts transfer degrees which emphasize Agriculture, Natural Resources and Equine Management.
