Think Pink and D.A.W.G.S. Night

February 7, 2014

The Wednesday night basketball doubleheader at North Central Missouri College will focus on breast cancer awareness and the D.A.W.G.S. (Disabled Athletes with Grundy Support). The Lady Pirates and Pirates will take on Wentworth Military Academy beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Ketcham Community Center on the college campus.

The Lady Pirates participate annually in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Pink Zone initiative to raise breast cancer awareness. Any person wearing pink will be admitted free to the games, and there will be a free-will donation jar at the gate. The donations will go to support a local cancer patient. Also, the Lady Pirates will have a limited number of pink shirts that will be sold at the gate for $15 each.

Between the games at approximately 7 p.m., Grundy County disabled athletes will be present to “shoot some hoops” with NCMC students. Student Senate President Loren Fox will talk about the local D.A.W.G.S. organization and a donation will be taken for the D.A.W.G.S. to offset their costs for various athletic competitions.
