Volunteers Still Needed for Holiday Hoops

November 30, 2011

“A few volunteers are still needed for High School Holiday Hoops coming up next month” says Steve Maxey, Director of the North Central Missouri College Foundation.  “It is an exciting event with a record-breaking 83 different high school ball clubs coming to our campus for nine days of basketball.  With the addition of more teams and more days, more volunteers are needed.”    Maxey estimated that over 250 volunteers are needed for the entire event with responsibilities remaining that will allow individuals to assist at the gate and information desk, persons to keep scorebook and operate the scoreboard.  “Team Hosts have been secured but persons to be used in an emergency are always needed,”  said Maxey.

A training session for all volunteers has been scheduled for Monday night, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. for persons who have committed serve as team hosts, clock operators and score keepers.  Individuals serving as assistants at the gate and information booth are not expected to attend.  The session will take place in the Sugg Room of the Ketcham Community Center.

Persons willing to volunteer should contact the NCMC Foundation Office at 359-3948, ext 1415 on the NCMC Campus.

This is the seventh year for Holiday Hoops,  now considered the largest high school holiday basketball event in the entire state with forty-seven high schools from Missouri and, for the first time, one high school from Iowa participating.
