Demetrius Houston is NCMC’s Outstanding Student for June

Demetrius Houston has been selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Student for June. Demetrius recently graduated in May with his Associate in Arts degree and will transfer to Quincy University where he will continue his basketball career.

Demetrius was involved in men’s basketball, Student Support Services, and was a business and marketing major. “Mrs. Bird’s classes were my favorite,” said Demetrius. “She is an excellent teacher, and she gives you a different perspective and better background of business. She is also a great mentor; she helps you both inside and outside the classroom.”

Demetrius is from Birmingham, Alabama when asked why he chose NCMC he said, “When I came, it felt like everyone just took me in like family. People are friendly, everyone is helpful, and they are always there for you; it was a good fit. NCMC was an excellent experience for me. My education here has helped me prepare to transfer and life.”

Each month, a student is nominated by a faculty or staff member to be featured as an Outstanding Student based on their dedication to educational success, attitude toward learning, and hard work in their field and activities.
