November 9, 2017

The 2017 Missouri Postsecondary Agriculture Student (PAS) Organization Conference will be held on the North Central Missouri College Campus in Trenton November 13 – 15.  “Harvesting New Opportunities by Promoting Strong Roots” is the theme for this year’s conference, which is being coordinated by the NCMC Agriculture and Natural Resources Department.  Missouri PAS Vice President Katelyn Galloway; an NCMC sophomore Agriculture Education major from Brookfield, Missouri, is helping lead the local effort.

More than 90 agriculture students from seven Missouri post-secondary institutions are expected to compete in career development activities, attend leadership workshops and elect state officers for next year.  Featured session speakers will be former agriculture instructor and current Missouri State Representative, Rusty Black from Chillicothe and the three National PAS Officers from State Fair Community College.  Conference participants will also have the opportunity to attend workshops provided by Scott Roy, MDC and Samantha Graves and Stanton Warren, Trans Ova Genetics.  Smithfield Hog Production of Missouri will sponsor the PAS group in Princeton for an agriculture industry meeting and meal.  Approximately 30 regional agricultural and educational leaders have agreed to serve as judges for the career interview section of the conference.

Missouri colleges that will be participating in the year’s conference include Crowder College, Missouri State University-West Plains, North Central Missouri College, Northwest Missouri State University, State Fair Community College, State Technical College of Missouri and St. Louis Community College.

The National PAS Organization was founded in March 1980 in Kansas City, Missouri.  Its mission is to provide opportunities for individual growth, leadership and career preparation.  North Central Missouri College is a charter member of both the Missouri and National PAS Organizations.
