| The Adult Education & Literacy Program (AEL) is a second chance for anyone age 16 with 16 high school credit hours, or 17 years of age or older and out of school.
Adults who have not finished high school and are not enrolled in school can get free assistance in getting their General Equivalency Diploma (GED). AEL can also help anyone improve basic education skills or just brush up on subjects. All materials and instruction are provided free of charge, and adults can set up their own schedule on when to attend classes.
To pinpoint what you need to work on, consider signing up for the GED Preparation Module, an 18-hour mini-course. The new GED test became effective Jan. 1, 2002.
You can even work on your education through the Internet!
Beginning in July 2002, AEL will offer ESL classes for non-English speakers. |
NCMC is also host to the Missouri AEL Technology Center.
The AEL Program is supported by local, state and federal funds. The only costs are transportation to the class site and $40 in testing fees.
Classes are free to students and are held days and evenings. Some locations even provide free child care. Classes are held in convenient locations throughout the Green Hills area, such as:
- Bethany
- Brookfield
- Chillicothe
- Milan
- Trenton
- Jamesport
