Associate in General Studies

The Associate in General Studies degree is for students who wish to prepare themselves to immediately enter a career field without obtaining a baccalaureate degree. Courses required for this degree may transfer, but will not necessarily fulfill the general education requirements at a four-year college or university.

Associate in General Studies Degree

General Requirements

COMMUNICATIONS 6 hours
  A. English I 3
  B. Speech Communications 3
   
SOCIAL SCIENCE 6 hours
  A. American History to Civil War or National Government 3
  B. General Psychology 3
   
MATHEMATICS 3 hours

(Intermediate Algebra or above is recommended.)

 
   
HUMANITIES 3 hours
   
Electives 42 hours
   
TOTAL A.G.S. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS 60 hours

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • A minimum final cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and a minimum of 60 credit hours are required for graduation.
  • Developmental Skills classes do not apply toward any degree requirements in any program.
  • A maximum of six hours in religion courses will be applied toward a degree.
  • A maximum of two hours in physical education activity credit will be applied toward a degree.
