Associate in Applied Science, Data Processing
Graduation Year: 1996
I’ve been connected to NCMC for nearly half my life—and to say I love it would still fall short. My journey with NCMC began in 1994 when I arrived as a freshman pursuing a degree in Data Processing under the guidance of Don Henry. At the time, I simply wanted to work in an office and become a more skilled professional. What I didn’t expect was to discover a whole new version of myself.
I loved every class and every instructor. Don Henry, Pam Sager, Sara Campbell, and Missie Cotton not only taught me—they believed in me. They helped me secure an internship and nurtured strengths I didn’t even know I had. After graduation, I entered the workforce full-time, but within just a few months, I realized I wasn’t finished with education. The following semester, I enrolled in night classes at NCMC and eventually transferred to the University of Missouri, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in business education.
In 1999, I returned to NCMC—this time as an adjunct instructor in the Business Department. I was reunited with Sara and Missie, who had gone from mentors to friends. With their encouragement, I pursued and earned my master’s in business administration.
In 2009, I was honored to be hired to step into the role previously held by Pam Sager as she began her retirement. I had some very big shoes to fill! I was so excited Missie Cotton was still working at NCMC, along with Sarah Bird and Cory Cooksey. We weren’t just colleagues—we were, and still are, the best of friends. Sixteen years later, I’m still here, proud to be part of a department that continues to grow and evolve while remaining committed to excellence. So much has changed since 1994, but one thing remains the same: NCMC delivers a top-tier education—and we have fun doing it.
I love working here. I love the people, the students, and the mission we serve. We are changing lives every day.
