At North Central Missouri College, the Business Department designs every course with one clear purpose in mind: preparing students for meaningful employment. A cornerstone of this commitment is the required internship, which allows students to gain real-world experience before graduation. Students also create a LinkedIn profile and connect with Internship Instructor Sarah Bird, helping them build professional networks that extend beyond the classroom.

This summer, business student Aden Snider turned his internship into a home run. Aden joined the St. Joseph Mustangs, a collegiate summer baseball team known for both athletic and community success. Since their founding in 2009, the Mustangs have secured nine MINK League Championships, including titles in 2022 and 2024. Their fan base continues to grow, with a record-setting 6,013 guests in 2023 and an impressive 2,852 average attendance per game in 2024—placing them among the top ten nationally for the 12th consecutive year.

Aden’s experience was made even more impactful by working alongside NCMC alum and Assistant General Manager, Tyler Lupfer. Together with the Mustangs team, Aden gained valuable hands-on experience in social media management, event planning, and theme game promotions. He not only developed new skills but also built meaningful professional connections. Aden says “the best part of this internship was the connections made, I spent time out in the community and got to know other marketing teams who are working with the Mustangs on specific events”.

Thanks to his internship and the visibility of sharing his work on LinkedIn, Aden is already exploring multiple job offers as he prepares for graduation. “Even though Mrs. Bird forced me to create a LinkedIn account, I was glad I did because it allowed me to stay connected to all my contacts I made this summer” -Aden Snider

His story is a shining example of how NCMC’s business program blends classroom learning with practical experience—helping students step confidently into their careers.
