Celebrating 100 Years at North Central Missouri College, 100 Stories for 100 Years
In honor of North Central Missouri College’s centennial, NCMC will spotlight 100 inspiring stories throughout the academic year. These narratives will showcase the voices and journeys of our alumni, students, faculty, staff, donors, and the communities that have shaped TJC/NCMC’s legacy. Each story is a tribute to the people throughout history who make NCMC extraordinary.
Harry Bratton
Associate in Arts
Graduation Year: 1956
After completing his service in the army in 1955, Harry Bratton enrolled at TJC/NCMC college. Although he initially felt homesick, he found the small classes and supportive teachers valuable. Upon graduating from TJC/NCMC, he pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. His time at TJC/NCMC set the stage for a successful engineering career and personal life. Harry’s wife, Alice (Sanders) Bratton, served as the registrar at TJC/NCMC from 1954-56. After moving to Columbia, Alice worked while Harry pursued his degree. Together, they had one daughter, Marilyn. The couple always acknowledged the support they received from TJC/NCMC and the people of Trenton in achieving their dreams. Harry served on the NCMC Foundation Board of Directors for ten years. Although both Harry and Alice have passed away, their legacy lives on through their daughter, granddaughter, grandson, step-grandchildren, and their TJC/NCMC Family.
The centennial celebration will continue throughout the academic year, and NCMC invites alumni, students, faculty, staff, and our communities to be part of the story.
