Gifts in Action
You can help…
Educate tomorrow’s leaders by participating in North Central Missouri College Foundation’s Gifts in Action Scholarship Campaign. Contributions to Gifts in Action assure the growth of endowed scholarship funds, thereby allowing current students and generations of future students to pursue their educational dreams. Our goal is to increase the NCMC Foundation’s general scholarship fund, the Knowledge Fund, to four and half million dollars. These additional funds will help the educational dreams of many deserving students come true.
Why increase the NCMC Foundation Knowledge Fund, a scholarship fund?
North Central Missouri College provides an affordable, quality education, yet the reality for students includes rising college costs coupled with declining funding sources. For example, State funding per student fell by 22.2% 2008-2016. In the past, the Federal Pell Grant covered most of a qualifying student’s college expenses; however, students still find themselves borrowing additional funds to complete their college education. In 2016-17, the average loan per student at NCMC was $5,497.
NCMC Students Face the Following Expenses
- $117 per credit hour for In-District (Trenton R-IX) Students equates to approximately $3,560* per year.
- $177 per credit hour for Missouri Resident Students equates to approximately $5,360* per year.
- $207 per credit hour for Out-of-State/International Students equates to approximately $6,260* per year.
*Based on an average of 15 credit hours per semester for two semesters, fall and spring semesters.
Room and Board for 2017-2018
Room and Board for students living in the NCMC Residence Halls runs from $5,584 to $7,724 per year. Commuter students incur fuel, food, and perhaps childcare costs. It is estimated that a student living at home has a total cost of attendance of $13,016 per year; a student living on-campus has a total cost of attendance of $16,342; and a student living off-campus has a total cost of attendance of $19,704 per year.
Your Gift in Action will allow scholarship recipients to more fully participate in college life and eventually enter the workplace without crushing debt.
Students awarded scholarships will be recognized and rewarded for their hard work, merits, and dedication. Increasing the amount of scholarship funds helps NCMC to be competitive in spite of governmental funding shortfalls. With additional scholarship funds, North Central will continue to attract and retain a bright and diverse student body and ultimately provide qualified professionals in a wide variety of fields. In the past, the Federal Pell Grant covered most of a student’s college expenses for those that qualified. Today, students need to borrow more funds to complete their college education.
Why increase the number of NCMC Foundation named scholarships?
Establishing a named scholarship in honor of a family member or in memory of a special friend is a wonderful way to leave a legacy. These endowed scholarships can be awarded in accordance with the donor’s specific wishes. Donors who have benefited from scholarships themselves can “pay it forward” by establishing a named scholarship with their Gifts in Action.
Every donation to Gifts in Action will make a difference in the lives of NCMC students and help the leaders of tomorrow achieve their higher educational goals.
Will any of my donation go toward campaign costs?
No! One hundred percent of your contribution will go to the scholarship fund.
Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes. The NCMC Foundation is an IRS approved 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. All contributions toward the Campaign are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Please consult your tax advisor for complete details.
