North Central Missouri College (NCMC) is celebrating its Centennial Anniversary. Established in 1925, Trenton Junior College (TJC) is still fondly remembered by many under its original name. For several decades, TJC was part of the Trenton K-14 school district until it separated in 1986. The college officially changed its name to North Central Missouri College in July 1988. Regardless of the name TJC or NCMC, the college has consistently maintained its commitment to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality educational programs for 100 years.
With the separation and name change the college experienced a resurgence that led to the creation of the North Central Missouri College Foundation on October 8, 1986. A scholarship campaign was started and soon other campaigns helped with the expansion of Main Campus, the Elizabeth & Arthur Barton Farm Campus and most recently the Savannah Campus.
As we look back on the past 100 years, NCMC has remained anchored; providing stability in ever-changing educational waters and adjusting to the rise and fall of the tide. A century of history, dedicated faculty and staff, and students eager to learn has allowed NCMC to grow and prosper.
We are grateful to the many individuals, businesses, and organizations that have supported the development of the infrastructure at our Main, Barton, and Savannah Campuses. Some of these supporters have direct connections with NCMC, while others have chosen to contribute because they appreciate the work we do. Your donations and gifts to our campaigns have made a significant impact. Thank you for your support in the past, present, and future.
Inspiring future possibilities for our students is a daily occurrence at NCMC. A student receiving notification of being selected for an NCMC Foundation scholarship, receiving free tutoring in the Bosley Learning Commons, to the future opening of the Dr. Neil & Susanne Nuttall Student Center, are just a few examples. Inspiring the future begins with being anchored in our history and showing appreciation of how far we have come and who has helped us along the way.
The centennial theme is “Anchored in History, Inspiring the Future” and for the celebration we want to hear from you on why NCMC is so special. Help us to reach 100 TJC/NCMC stories by sharing your story through the Centennial site. Events will begin this fall, and updates will be shared on the same webpage.
