North Central Missouri College invites the community to celebrate 100 years with a Centennial Block Party on Saturday, April 18, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., on Main Street in front of Geyer Hall. This free, family-friendly community celebration invites employees, alumni, students, and community members to come together to honor NCMC’s 100 years of service to the region. The evening will feature live music, food trucks, activities for all ages, giveaways, and birthday cake to commemorate the historic milestone.
Two regionally rooted bands will headline the evening:
Slow Leak will perform from 4:00–6:00 p.m. Known for blending traditional bluegrass with original compositions, the band delivers rich acoustic harmonies and storytelling shaped by real-life experiences. Band members include Cree Mullenix (guitar), Sean Cleary (dobro/guitar), Bob Gass (bass), Dirk Ellis (mandolin/guitar), and Travis Mullenix (guitar).
Blackwater Revival will take the stage from 7:00–9:00 p.m., bringing high-energy performances that blend country roots with rock influences. Their setlist includes today’s country hits along with southern and classic rock favorites.
At 6:00 p.m., NCMC will host a brief recognition program honoring current and past Board of Trustees members, presidents, emeriti, and Foundation board members, followed by the serving of free birthday cake.
Several food trucks will be on-site for guests wishing to purchase a meal, including:
Rolling Cravings – Premium all-beef hamburgers, authentic Greek gyros, chicken, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and more
Stotts BBQ – Traditional BBQ favorites such as ribs and sandwiches, plus loaded nachos and mac & cheese
Sonshine’z Chipotle Bowls – Fresh, made-to-order bowl options
Free activities will be available throughout the event, including bounce houses, Giant Jenga, cornhole, face painting, and lawn games. Complimentary birthday cake, bottled water, and giveaways will be provided while supplies last.
The NCMC Campus Store will also be open from 3:00–5:00 p.m. during the Block Party, and select donated merchandise and items will be available as part of the celebration.
There is no entry fee and no charge for activities, making the Centennial Block Party an accessible celebration for the entire community. A detailed event timeline and map will be available on the NCMC Centennial website closer to the event.
