Green Hills Head Start has been recognized with the Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Supports (MO SW-PBS) Tier 3 Award of Excellence, honoring the school’s exemplary implementation of schoolwide positive behavior supports across all three tiers of the framework.
Each year, MO SW-PBS recognizes Missouri schools that demonstrate exceptional work in implementing Schoolwide Positive Behavior Supports (SW-PBS), an evidence-based, multi-tiered system designed to improve student behavior through prevention, instruction, and early intervention. This year, 217 schools across the state earned the prestigious Award of Excellence, reflecting their commitment to fostering safe, supportive, and effective learning environments.
The Tier 3 Award of Excellence is the highest level of recognition, awarded to schools that meet rigorous criteria for implementation at Tiers 1, 2, and 3. Green Hills Head Start’s achievement highlights its comprehensive approach to supporting the whole child, ensuring that universal expectations are taught and reinforced, targeted supports are provided for students who need additional assistance, and intensive interventions are in place for those requiring the highest level of support.
Research shows that schools implementing SW-PBS with fidelity experience a range of positive outcomes, including increased pro-social behavior, improved attendance, fewer office discipline referrals, and reduced out-of-school suspensions. Green Hills Head Start’s recognition reflects measurable success in creating a learning environment where students feel a strong sense of belonging, safety, and engagement.
