The NCMC Foundation announces the receipt of a new scholarship endowment to assist North Central Missouri College students achieve their higher education goals. Each year only a portion of an endowed fund is awarded to ensure the Foundation will continue to assist generations of future students pursuing their educational dreams. Criteria for a scholarship can be set by the donor and may reflect their passion or interests.
The recent investment received the by the NCMC Foundation created a scholarship in memory of beloved family member, Caroline Stokes.
Caroline grew up on a farm outside of Jamesport, Missouri. She graduated from Trenton Junior College, now North Central Missouri College (NCMC), with an associate in arts in 1981 as a non-traditional student. Caroline was paraprofessional at S. M. Rissler Elementary School for many years and enjoyed helping young students. Family and friends were very important to Caroline who passed away on February 22, 2025 at 91 years of age. To honor her life, Caroline’s family started the Caroline Stokes Scholarship with the NCMC Foundation to assist education students. The first award of this new scholarship will occur fall of 2026.
“Starting a scholarship is a very personal commitment by our donors who not only have passion to help others but also have pride in North Central Missouri College and how it has impacted their lives or the lives of a loved one”, commented NCMC Foundation Executive Director Alicia Endicott. “The impact a scholarship has on a student is immense and without donors who believe in what the college, foundation is doing no scholarship would be possible for our students.” The NCMC Foundation’s scholarship endowment has grown to over $9 Million due to the generosity of many and the stewardship of funds by Foundation Directors. NCMC students not only benefit from the monetary assistance a scholarship provides but also from knowing that their hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed.
