North Central Missouri College in Savannah and Mosaic Life Care Announce $1.37M HRSA Grant Award
- JOSEPH, MO – In partnership with Mosaic Life Care, North Central Missouri College in Savannah, MO has been awarded a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant providing 1.37m in funding to support the expansion of the regional mental health workforce training.
Mosaic Life Care and North Central Missouri College acknowledge trusted regional partnerships fostered through the Community Behavioral Health Alliance as a contributing factor to the recent HRSA grant success. The Community Behavioral Health Alliance is comprised of direct mental health service provider organizations such as Mosaic Life Care, Mosaic Life Care Foundation, Family Guidance, The Center, and Greater St. Joseph United Way. Additionally, educational institutions including regional K-12 public schools, Missouri Western State University and North Central Missouri College are valued members of the alliance. Working in partnership, the alliance meets regularly to discuss collaboration opportunities to improve the mental health service continuum of care across NW Missouri.

Since 2021, the Community Behavioral Health Alliance has identified several key areas of need across our regional mental health continuum of care. These areas of need include access to care, mental health workforce provider shortage, wrap-around service availability, and post-secondary educational opportunities for mental health related caregivers. The alliance collaboration has resulted in heightened shared commitment to embracing a grow-our-own philosophy to meet our regional communities’ expansive mental health needs.
The response from Community Behavioral Health Alliance post-secondary education partners has been remarkable. Missouri Western State University and North Central Missouri College are both working to increase the number of professionals prepared to work within integrated mental health provider teams. In 2023, Missouri Western State University stepped forward responding to the noted regional workforce shortage in social work. MWSU offerings now include a Master of Social Work degree. North Central Missouri College strategic plan includes the expansion of mental health professional course offerings at the Savannah campus to meet the mental health workforce shortage.
