Luis Leon, an international student from the Dominican Republic, has been selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Student for June. Luis is pursuing his associate in arts degree and will graduate in May 2026.
At NCMC, Luis plays on the men’s baseball team and is actively involved in residence life. Luis said, “My favorite thing about NCMC is the community feeling of belonging and feeling included.” His favorite class is Microcomputer Applications with Instructor Madi Stillwell. Luis said, “Instructor Stillwell made me feel welcome my first year at college. She worked with me to explain everything and was very helpful and supportive.”
When asked why he chose NCMC, Luis said, “I chose NCMC because it was a great opportunity to continue to play collegiate baseball, continue to work on being a better player, and be a good student.”
Each month, a student is nominated by a faculty or staff member to be featured as an Outstanding Student based on their dedication to educational success, attitude toward learning, and hard work in their field and activities.
