Senator Dan Hegeman and Representative Rusty Black were recently recognized by the Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) for their service to North Central Missouri College and community colleges across the state. Senator Hegeman and Representative Black received the 2021 Distinguished Legislator award at the statewide MCCA convention held in Branson, Missouri. This award is given annually to legislators that persistently support Missouri community colleges and community college students.

Senator Dan Hegeman represents the 12th Senatorial District, which is comprised of 15 counties throughout northwest Missouri: Andrew, Atchison, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Sullivan, and Worth. Representative Rusty Black represents Grundy, Livingston counties, and a majority of Linn County.

“Senator Hegeman and Representative Black continuously support Missouri community college and our students,” said Dr. Lenny Klaver, President. “They advocate for community colleges and our endeavors to help us better serve Missouri students. Senator Hegeman and Representative Black are much deserved of this award.”

MCCA is Missouri’s largest advocacy group for community colleges. “MCCA is where the state’s 12 community colleges come together to share ideas and advance common goals.”

Each year, MCCA honors individuals and businesses who support community colleges in Missouri and provides recognition to those who are selected based on their support, generosity, commitment, and partnerships with community colleges in the state.
