The North Central Missouri College is proud to announce that Asa Palmeri has been elected Vice President of the Missouri Nursing Student Association (MONSA).

MONSA, founded in 1952, is a statewide organization that fosters professional development and leadership skills among Missouri’s nursing students. As a constituent of the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA), MONSA provides its members with opportunities to engage in advocacy, network with professionals, and participate in leadership training. The organization’s mission includes promoting nursing education standards, supporting legislative activities, and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration.

As Vice President, Asa will work alongside the MONSA Board of Directors, which includes 10 elected student leaders and one non-voting consultant appointed by the Missouri Nurses Association. He will help shape initiatives that impact nursing education, support the organization’s annual conventions, and represent Missouri nursing students at state and national levels. This spring, Asa will be representing NCMC and the nursing students of Missouri at the NSNA Annual Convention in Seattle, Washington, this April.

Reflecting on this opportunity, Asa shared:

“I am incredibly honored to have been nominated as the VP for MONSA, and I cannot wait to use my voice and platform to be a positive and strong light in the field of nursing. I want to represent Missouri nursing students with pride as well as be an ambassador for NCMC throughout my tenure. This is an amazing opportunity, and I hope to make the most of my time serving.”

Asa’s election is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of his commitment to nursing excellence, leadership, and advocacy. Asa brings a wealth of experience and passion to his new role. Having lived in Jefferson City, Missouri, for most of his life, Asa was homeschooled and attended Lighthouse Preparatory Academy for high school. He earned his LPN license from State Technical College in 2016 and has since gained experience in hospice, mental health, primary care, pulmonary care, and nursing informatics. For the past four years, he has specialized in building and maintaining electronic medical record systems for large hospitals. Asa’s dedication to advancing his education led him to enroll in NCMC’s Online ADN Program where he could continue to work and expand his education. Asa’s nursing journey is a testament to his determination, passion, and commitment to lifelong learning. Outside of nursing, Asa enjoys traveling, attending Boston Celtics and Kansas City Chiefs games, reading, and going to the movies.

Asa is currently the Nursing Student Representative for the Online Student Nurse Association at NCMC, where he has demonstrated strong leadership skills and offered great support to his peers. Asa plans to continue his education, pursuing a BSN and eventually an MSN in Nursing Informatics after graduating in May.
