NCMC Alums Recognized as Missouri Outstanding Beginning Teachers by MACTE
At the spring conference of the Missouri Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (MACTE), McKenna Horton and Brooke Horton were recognized as Missouri’s Outstanding Beginning Teachers.
McKenna Horton is a graduate of North Central Missouri College and Northwest Missouri State University and is currently teaching preschool in the Linn County R-I School District. McKenna creates a warm and engaging learning environment where her young learners thrive. She consistently incorporates innovative teaching strategies to spark curiosity and foster a love for learning, laying a strong foundation for her students’ academic and social development.
Brooke Horton is a graduate of North Central Missouri College and Graceland University and is a special education teacher in the Chillicothe R-II School District. Brooke approaches each day with compassion, creativity, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported. She consistently goes above and beyond to tailor her instruction to meet the unique needs of her students, ensuring their academic and personal growth.
The Missouri Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (MACTE) is a state affiliate of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) and represents the educator preparation programs across the state.
The Outstanding Beginning Teacher Awards recognize teachers in their first two years of service who demonstrate excellence in serving children in school districts across Missouri. Award recipients were selected based on recommendations from Missouri’s teacher education programs and a recommendation from honorees’ school districts.
All of the Outstanding Beginning Teachers received an award packet to commemorate their accomplishments, including a banner for display in their classroom or school. MACTE recognizes the contribution of these extraordinary teachers, as well as all of our excellent, highly qualified teachers throughout Missouri who serve and educate our students.
