NCMC Expands Teacher Education to Savannah Campus

North Central Missouri College will be expanding its Teacher Education program to the Savannah Campus beginning in Fall 2026, providing students in rural, northwest Missouri with a convenient and affordable pathway toward becoming a teacher.

Students attending the Savannah Campus will have the opportunity to pursue NCMC’s Associate in Arts in Teaching transfer degree. The program is designed for students who plan to continue their education at a four-year institution and earn a bachelor’s degree in education and teacher certification.

The Associate in Arts in Teaching degree allows students to complete foundational education courses, general education requirements, and valuable classroom field experiences while remaining close to home. Through these experiences, students can explore the teaching profession, learn from local educators, and begin developing the knowledge and skills needed to lead their own classrooms.

“Expanding our Teacher Education program to the Savannah Campus gives more students the opportunity to begin their journey toward becoming an educator without having to travel far from home,” said Cassie Cordray, NCMC Teacher Education Instructor,  “Schools throughout rural, northwest Missouri need passionate, well-prepared teachers, and we are excited to help students take the first steps toward a meaningful career where they can make a lasting difference.”

The program is an excellent option for recent high school graduates, paraprofessionals interested in becoming certified teachers, substitute teachers, and other individuals considering a career change into education.

Students who complete the Associate in Arts in Teaching degree can transfer to a partnering four-year college or university to continue working toward a bachelor’s degree and teacher certification. NCMC advisors will work closely with students to help them understand degree requirements, transfer options, and the steps necessary to reach their career goals.

Students interested in beginning the program in Fall 2026 should apply for admission to North Central Missouri College. Students will work with an advisor to develop an academic plan and register for classes at the Savannah Campus.
