North Central Missouri College’s Radiologic Technology students achieved a monumental milestone by winning the “Ray Bowl” competition during the Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologist (MoSRT) Annual Conference. This marks the first time NCMC students have placed first in this academic contest, which took place at the Lodge of Four Seasons in Osage Beach, Missouri, on April 3, 2025.
The “Ray Bowl,” also known as the MoSRT Student Bowl, featured 11 teams from accredited radiology programs across the state. Teams faced off in a rigorous competition designed to test their knowledge in categories such as patient care, safety, image production, and procedures. NCMC’s team, consisting of second-year students Gracie Blair, Sydnee Sample, and Hallie Weaver, along with alternates Madeline Saunders and Mercedes Todd, displayed exceptional skill and teamwork to secure the first-place win.
The MoSRT Annual Conference, held from April 2-4, 2025, provided attendees, including registered technologists and students, opportunities to network with professionals and vendors and learn about the latest advancements in radiologic technology. The conference included lectures on topics such as patient care, radiation protection, and technology advancements, all approved for continuing education credits by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).
Radiologic technology is a dynamic healthcare field focused on using radiation to create diagnostic images of the human body. NCMC’s program equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary for a rewarding career as radiologic technologists, whose roles are vital in patient care and diagnosing medical conditions. Competitions like the “Ray Bowl” not only enhance students’ preparedness for their upcoming American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification exam but also foster real-world applications that build their confidence and proficiency.
After the conference, NCMC students will return to class and clinical environments for the final weeks of their semester before celebrating at the NCMC Commencement Ceremony on May 10th. They will then take the ARRT certification exam, paving the way for their transition into registered technologist roles.
