North Central Missouri College to Upgrade Student Portal System

Beginning September 17, 2019 students at North Central Missouri College will see a fresh upgrade to their student self-service portal system. The upgrade is a complete redesign with added features for better usability and navigation. North Central Missouri College will be one of the first colleges to launch the new product through Ellucian systems. 

“A little over two years ago Ellucian approached North Central Missouri College to partner on the redesign of this product, and it has been a collaborative effort by staff, instructors and some great student ambassadors,” said Tami Campbell, Senior Database Administrator. “Though challenging at times, we’ve really been able to impact the new look and feel as well as functionality of this product to meet the needs of our students, instructors, and staff. However, we are not done yet; there are already new features slated for the future patches of this product. The key ingredient in this project is the feedback we receive from NCMC users.”

The upgrade includes new features like being a fully mobile responsive design that will function on any smartphone or tablet as well as desktop or laptop device, user profile with images and dashboard status of degree plan, and a new calendar view during registration to allow students to view what a week may look like when planning their course schedule.

“I love the new calendar feature and schedule,” said Katie Blanchard, NCMC Student Senate President. “The redesign looks really cool, and I think students are going to find it easier to navigate and use.”

Jamee Scearce, recent graduate and former NCMC Student Senate President was one of the first to provide input on the design and layout of the new system. Jamee said, “I think it’s great to see changes and upgrades in technology at NCMC. It is not only important to faculty/staff, but also to students to help improve services and communication.”

The upgrade is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17 and estimated to take 12-14 hours to upgrade. During this time, access to Blackboard and email will not be affected. During the maintenance period, access to those online services will be available from the myCompass link.
