Information for Online Orientation

New students must complete an OAR before enrolling in classes.

The Academic Advisors would like to emphasize how important it is for students to attend an on-ground OAR session. Students have the opportunity to meet with various departments across campus, take a walking campus tour, meet their advisor, discuss their schedule in depth and become familiar with life on NCMC’s campus. However, we recognize that not everyone is able to attend an on-campus OAR session.  If you are unable to attend an on-campus OAR session, please follow the steps below to complete Online Orientation. You will not be eligible to register for your courses until the Online Orientation is completed.

Steps to complete Online Orientation

Step 1

Contact the Student Services Coordinator by emailing [email protected] or by calling (660) 357-6418 to request to be added into the OAR organization module in Brightspace.

Step 2

Once you have been added to the OAR organization, log into myCOMPASS using your NCMC student ID and password.  You should have received a letter from our Admissions office concerning your Student ID and password.  However, if you do not know your student ID or password please contact the NCMC IT Helpdesk to further assist. You may call (660) 357-6214 or contact by email at [email protected].

Step 3

Once you are logged in navigate to Brightspace, locate the My Courses dashboard. Select the “All” or “Learning Communities” tab and access “Orientation. Advising. Registration. (OAR).

Step 4

Complete the learning module titled “Online OAR for New Students”.  You must answer each question correctly on all quizzes to be allowed to enroll in classes!
