Lane Mitchell from Chillicothe, MO, has been selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Student for December. Lane is pursuing his associate in science degree and plans to graduate this semester. After graduating from NCMC, Lane will transfer to a four-year institution and work towards a Bachelor of Science in Religion: Biblical and Theological Studies. After completing his bachelor’s degree, Lane plans to pursue a master’s in divinity. Lane said, “My overall end goal is to pursue what I would not even consider a job, but instead just an opportunity to serve Christ and others through ministry. It is something I have felt a true calling towards.”
Lane is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at NCMC and stays busy with school, work, family, and life. When asked about his favorite class, Lane said he couldn’t say there was one specific class, and there are many great classes and great instructors, but if he had to choose, it would be any class taught by Dr. Susan Stull. Lane said, “Dr. Stull is always willing to help and give up her own time to make sure you succeed.”
Lane went on to say, “I chose NCMC for three reasons. First, it is close to my home here in Chillicothe, allowing me to easily commute and not requiring me to move. Second, the cost of NCMC is something that I could not beat at any other institution. Third, it is where my mother went and received her associate degree. NCMC has helped me create a base to build in terms of my education, helping me prepare for what is ahead.”
Each month, a student is nominated by a faculty or staff member to be featured as an Outstanding Student based on their dedication to educational success, attitude toward learning, and hard work in their field and activities.
