NCMC Begins Planning for Savannah Center Construction

August 27, 2021

North Central Missouri College is currently designing, planning, reviewing, and completing all the steps necessary to start construction on the new site in Savannah, MO. NCMC is working with Ellison-Auxier Architects, Inc. for a conceptual design and layout of a renovation for existing property and construction of a new building.

“Mayor Kirk Larson, City Administrator Bruce Lundy, and the Savannah elected officials have expressed their gratitude to NCMC for choosing Savannah as the site of their expansion and feel this will jumpstart the future of Savannah with visions of good things to come.” –Bruce Lundy, Savannah City Administrator.

“We are excited about the expansion into Savannah,” said President Dr. Lenny Klaver. “Our state-of-the-art classrooms, quality instruction, and accessible location will help us better serve our students in the region.”

North Central is currently working through the environmental review process and plans to start the bid process in October. The project will be divided into two phases; phase one will be the renovation of the existing structure, and phase two will be the construction of a new building that will cohesively attach to the first building.

“The Savannah R-III School District and surrounding community have been very supportive and welcoming. We look forward to extending the educational opportunities offered in the western part of the state and to serving the students in this area,” said Dr. Kristen Alley, Vice President of Student Affairs.

Dr. Alley went on to say, “NCMC is critically positioned to offer continued education in order to expand workforce opportunities in the region. We take our mission seriously and are committed to our students who have a desire to improve their lives through education and employers who need skilled workers.”

The first phase is planned to break ground in January of 2022 with some classes offered in the fall of 2022, and phase two is expected to be completed by fall 2023 with a full line of classes and resources offered.

“We have felt so welcomed and supported by the community here in Savannah, and we’re eager to get started with construction,” said Dr. Tristan Londre, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “This is going to be a great facility, and we want to get it ready and start serving students.”

NCMC has worked in partnership with the city of Savannah to help this project come underway and thanks the city for their support, input, and commitment.
