Quentin Barclift from Pattonsburg, MO, has been selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Student for June. Quentin, a Missouri A+ scholarship student, is pursuing an Associate in Arts in Business degree and plans to graduate May 2027. After graduating from NCMC, Quentin plans to continue his education at Truman State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business.
Quentin is actively involved on campus, working as a student employee in the Alexander Student Center and with Great Western Dining. Beginning this fall, he will take on an additional leadership role as a Residence Assistant (RA). He is also engaged in several student organizations, including Geology Club, where he serves as Vice President, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and First Gen Club. Quentin said, “I love it at NCMC. I like how it is a small campus where everything is close together. Trenton has a really nice downtown area near campus, and it’s a very welcoming community. I like that everyone knows each other and is so kind.” Outside the classroom, Quentin enjoys trap shooting, axe throwing, helping others, antique shopping, and driving while listening to music.
Quentin’s favorite class has been Speech with Instructor Tammie Wiebers. Quentin said, “I hated speaking and talking in front of people, but after taking that class, I gained confidence and learned how to communicate more effectively. I learned a lot, and it really helped me.”
Quentin initially chose NCMC because he received a scholarship, and his plan was only to complete a two-year degree. Since coming to NCMC, students and faculty have inspired and encouraged him to continue his education beyond an associate’s degree.
Each month, a student is nominated by a faculty or staff member to be featured as an Outstanding Student based on their dedication to educational success, attitude toward learning, and hard work in their field and activities.
