These narratives will showcase the voices and journeys of our alumni, students, faculty, staff, donors, and the communities that have shaped TJC/NCMC’s legacy. Each story is a tribute to the people throughout history who make NCMC extraordinary.

2002-2003

I began my college journey early through North Central Missouri College’s dual credit program while still in high school. This opportunity gave me a head start, earning a full semester of college credit before officially stepping onto campus. It allowed me to ease into college-level coursework while remaining in a familiar environment, building both confidence and academic momentum.

NCMC wasn’t just the beginning of my education, it was the launchpad for my career. My first “big job” was with the Upward Bound program at NCMC, and it remains one of my most cherished experiences. I had the privilege of working alongside an incredible group of women who inspired and supported me. Under the guidance of a remarkable supervisor, I grew professionally and personally, discovering strengths I didn’t know I had. I formed lifelong friendships and developed a deep appreciation for TRIO programs, which still hold a special place in my heart.

Nearly 20 years later, I’m still proud to be working as part of the NCMC family in my role as Chief of Staff. Every day, I witness the transformative impact we have on students’ lives. We get to be the good in someone’s story, to uplift, empower, and inspire. There’s no place I’d rather be than here, where change happens and lives are shaped for the better.

Someday, I look forward to watching my children walk the halls of Geyer, knowing that North Central Missouri College will be there to ignite their college and career journeys, just as it did for me.
