TRIO programs are 100% funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
TRIO is a set of federally-funded college opportunity programs that motivate and support students in their pursuit of a college degree. TRIO programs provide academic tutoring, personal counseling, mentoring, financial guidance, and other supports necessary for educational access and retention.
The Educational Opportunity Act of 1964 established Upward Bound, then in 1965 Talent Search, and Student Support Services in 1968. Since then, the original programs (TRIO) have grown to nine other programs. Currently, North Central Missouri College (NCMC) hosts three of these programs; UB, SSS and Talent Search.
All services are FREE for students who participate in a TRIO program.
