North Central Missouri College (NCMC) is proud to announce that a recent graduate and current nursing student have been elected to the highest leadership positions in the Missouri Nursing Student Association (MONSA), a statewide organization representing nursing students across Missouri.

Asa Palmeri, a 2025 graduate of NCMC’s nursing program, has been elected President of MONSA, while current NCMC student Trina Ledford will serve as Vice President. This remarkable achievement highlights NCMC’s commitment to fostering leadership and excellence in nursing education.

Andrea Schuelke, NCMC Nursing Instructor, said, “I am extremely proud of Trina for taking the initiative to run for Vice President, and I am beyond excited that she was nominated! We are also celebrating Asa Palmeri, a 2025 NCMC graduate, who has been nominated for President of MONSA. It is extraordinary for NCMC to hold the two highest leadership positions in a statewide organization, and it speaks volumes about the leadership and passion for the profession that our students embody. Their work will influence nursing students across Missouri and the nation, and we could not be more thrilled!”

Trina, a single mother of four from Lexington, Missouri, is currently enrolled in NCMC’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program and plans to graduate in May 2026. She works as a private duty LPN caring for children with special healthcare needs. Inspired by her own experiences as a mother of a special needs child, Trina is passionate about providing quality nursing care and advocating for nursing students statewide.

Trina said, “I didn’t aspire for more than becoming the kind of nurse who makes a difference, but I guess God had other plans. I’m humbled and excited for the opportunity to advocate for nursing students and help provide tools that will help them succeed.”
